Our Purpose

I-MAC exists to honour, preserve and strengthen Mbabaram Country, language, cultural knowledge, stories, heritage and significant places while supporting cultural, educational, social and community development. Our work is not only about preserving the past. It is about ensuring Mbabaram people, knowledge and culture have a visible place in the present and future of Irvinebank.
Preserve — Country, significant places, historical records, stories and cultural knowledge.
Revitalise — Mbabaram language, cultural learning and intergenerational knowledge transmission.
Partner — Work respectfully with the Irvinebank community, schools, Mareeba Shire Council, organisations, researchers and businesses.
How I-MAC Can Support Irvinebank
• Mbabaram signage and place recognition
• School partnerships
• Heritage trails and interpretive displays
• Tree and plant language signage
• Community history projects
• Cultural and historical exhibitions
• Visitor education
• Community events
• Joint grant projects
• Local employment and skills opportunities when funding allows
I-MAC wants to work with the people of Irvinebank, not separately from them — strengthening recognition of Mbabaram Country while contributing positively to the life, history and future of the town.
